If you look around and see no beauty, then you are looking in the wrong places. You can be nowhere there is none, for life itself is beautiful. Even if you don't immediately see it, for example in the branches of a bare tree, the potential is there for all to see. The potential growth and change that is a fundamental part of life is beautiful in itself. Beauty is abstract, but that only gives it more opportunities to exist.
Beauty is never really out of reach; if you can get to a window or even look into your own mind to a distant memory of a wonderful time. And at the very worst if you still can't see the beauty in everything around you, what is to stop you from creating some? Can you tell yourself in truth that this is beyond your limitations?
You are in charge of your perception
We create our own reality and shape our own perceptions, however conscious we are of that. It is easy to 'believe' our emotions and each time we feel them we try to attribute them to something specific.
If our mood is low, we can't easily appreciate the world around us without forcing a change in perception.
When our mood is high, we see the beauty in life effortlessly. It didn't disappear just because our mood was low, so we have a choice.
Your default position is appreciation
The soul will always strive to recognise the beauty from which it came, in the tangible forms this world presents. Whatever challenges face us and however ugly they seem, the power to recognise the beauty in each situation is never far from your grasp... if you only open your mind. Give yourself a chance to breathe in the face of your challenges and ask yourself, will this matter when I'm 90?
Ride the crest of the waves that life throws your way and when you reach the top you will see a view like never before. Fight it, and you will feel like you may drown under the pressure, a prisoner of your own mind.
Have faith in the divine
Faith may seem blind but invite it in; embrace it, and you will find that it is the obvious choice; the only way to fully appreciate the beauty, opportunity and potential that being alive brings. If you acknowledge the divine, the divine acknowledges you back. We sometimes call this synchronicity.
Walk alone in the knowledge that you are never really alone. Offer friendship and love (without judgement) to others, and the rewards will be riches far removed from the material; they will be food for the soul.
